Sometimes, in his dreams, he could see every sin he had ever committed thrown together in a river of blood. Sometimes he could see the most beautiful skies with the highest mountain ranges, and the rivers bright red and flowing still.

Takatori Mamoru was not the type to care much about blood, except when it stained his suit. The young man was woefully indifferent to blood and deaths, letting it wash past him with barely the slightest hint of recognition. After all, Takatori Mamoru ordered people to death on a daily basis.

And his greatest accomplishment- the one that had been the hardest to kill- had been Tsukiyono Omi.

Mamoru sometimes paused in the middle of his work, wondering how things would have been if he had continued living as Omi. If he had followed his dreams instead of letting his lineage dictate how he was going to live.

Foolish notions and ideas, really. The Takatori clan was well known for their genius and power. Each member of the Takatori family had been successful, just like he was. But he would outshine all of them. He would be greater than the rest of the family put together, if only because he did not want to be compared with the rest of them. He couldn’t escape the genius of his family, but he could improve on it.

Takatori Mamoru was already changing the world, after all. An influential politician by the age of nineteen, head of Kritiker by the age of twenty… he would go one to do great things in his life. He could alter the future in any way he liked.

Tsukiyono Omi, on the other hand, would not have been able to do as much. Sure, as a member of Weiss, Omi would have improved the world bit by bit, cleaning out the dark beasts of the night. But he might have eventually gone insane due to the job, if he hadn’t already.

Omi was a genius. It was his in blood. But his genius would have been wasted on the simple pleasures of life… a life spent with his friends, trying to brighten someone’s day with flowers. It might help a person’s mood, but it certainly wasn’t something that would change the world.

And he wanted to change the world.

Mamoru wasn’t as much an ambitious person as he was someone who had seen the futilities of hard work. He had seen people undermined, had seen innocent lives taken. He himself had taken lives. He had hunted the dark beasts.

No… that was Omi.

And at night, it was Omi who dreamed, not Mamoru. It was Omi who cried out when he slowly drowned in that river, choking on the thick red liquid and bright eyes darting to see if someone was there to save him.

In his dreams, Mamoru was also there. Standing on the shore, dressed pristinely enough for a political gathering. And those same bright eyes would watch as his counterpart cried in the river of blood, watch as Omi gasped and tried to stay afloat.

He would have that dream every night, and he would wonder… he would wonder about who was actually dying in the dream.

Because, as Mamoru continued to watch, he would never go and help Omi out in fear of staining himself again and drowning as well. But with each added day, the river just got higher and higher.

Mamoru had destroyed everything Omi held dear. Now he was just waiting patiently until Omi drowned in his own guilt.

Finally, finally, FINALLY, something Weiss Kreuz. ^^;; And Omi-centric, too! (Okay, so it's actually Weiss Kreuz Gluhen and it's Omi/Mamoru-centric...) Next update shall be for Angels and Demons, and this one's a promise! ('cause I'm actually working on it right now... ^^;;)

Am cosplaying Omi from Weiss Kreuz Gluhen! :D Well... Omi/Bombay/Mamoru/Persia... whatever you want to call him. ~_~ I love Omi to bits, but he needs to stick with one name.
